Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 19, 2026
Rendered is a cooking app for serious home cooks and pitmasters,
published by Bald Dude Apps, LLC (“Rendered,” “we,” “us,” or
“our”). This policy explains what information we collect through
the Rendered mobile apps and the renderedapp.com website
(together, the “Service”), how we use it, who we share it with,
and the choices and rights you have.
We built Rendered around a simple promise: the app helps you, but you’re still in charge. The same goes for your data. We sell ads to no one, we sell your personal information to no one, and we collect only what we need to run the Service.
1. Who we are
The Service is operated by Bald Dude Apps, LLC, a limited liability company based in Georgia, United States. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@renderedapp.com. Bald Dude Apps, LLC is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name. Authentication is handled through Amazon Cognito, which assigns your account a unique identifier.
- Recipe and cooking content. The recipes you create or import (names, ingredients, steps, notes, tags), your cook logs, ratings, “next time” notes, and any text you paste in to be parsed into a recipe. This is the heart of the Service and it belongs to you.
- Photos. If you add photos to a cook, we store them so they appear in your cook log.
- Preferences. Settings such as units (metric or imperial), theme, surface ordering, and notification choices.
- Support communications. If you email us, we keep your message and contact details so we can respond.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data. Screen views, in-app actions (for example, starting a cook or creating a recipe), app version, device type, and operating system, used to understand how the Service is used and to fix problems.
- Log data. Our servers automatically record technical information such as your account identifier, the request made, response status, timing, and IP address, which we use for security, debugging, and reliability.
- Session replay. We capture anonymized recordings of app interactions to diagnose issues and improve the experience, with privacy masking applied (see Analytics & session replay).
- Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications (such as a reminder for a planned cook), we store a device token so we can deliver them.
Subscription information
Paid subscriptions are purchased and processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by us. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We do receive your subscription and entitlement status (for example, whether your subscription is active) so we can unlock the features you’ve paid for.
3. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, maintain, and operate the Service — storing your recipes, planning and logging cooks, and scaling recipes;
- Personalize timeline predictions based on your own cooking history;
- Parse pasted recipe text into structured recipes, and (for eligible tiers) power AI recipe and coaching features;
- Send notifications you’ve asked for, such as start reminders and step alerts;
- Process and manage your subscription and enforce tier limits;
- Diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure;
- Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it;
- Communicate with you about your account or support requests;
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for third-party advertising, and we do not show ads in the Service.
4. Legal bases (EU/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information under the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you’ve signed up for, including storing your recipes and managing your subscription.
- Legitimate interests — to secure, debug, analyze, and improve the Service, in a way that doesn’t override your rights.
- Consent — where you’ve opted in, for example to push notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we must process data to comply with the law.
6. AI & recipe parsing
When you paste recipe text to be parsed, or use our AI recipe and coaching features, the relevant recipe content is sent to a third-party large language model (LLM) provider to produce the result. We send only the content needed to perform the task, and our providers are contractually restricted to using it solely to provide the service to us. The structured result is always shown to you for review before it’s saved — the app assists, but you stay in control of what ends up in your library.
7. Analytics & session replay
We use LaunchDarkly to understand how the Service is used and to record anonymized session replays that help us diagnose issues and improve the experience. We apply privacy masking by default:
- Masked (never recorded): recipe names, ingredient names, cook notes, “next time” notes, and any free-text you type, along with account fields like your email and name.
- Captured: non-identifying interface interactions, such as which buttons and screens you use and structural values like temperature readouts.
This data is used for product improvement, not advertising. During the beta period, our privacy disclosures also note that anonymized session data is collected for this purpose.
10. Your account across our apps
Bald Dude Apps, LLC publishes more than one app, and we use a shared sign-in system so that a single account works across our apps. We record which of our apps your account uses, so that when you sign up we can recognize that you already have an account with us. This is used for account recognition only — the recipes, cook logs, and other content you create in Rendered are kept separate and are not combined with other apps.
11. How long we keep data
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the personal information associated with it, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Operational logs and cached parse results are retained for a limited period and then automatically deleted. To delete your account, use the in-app option or email us at privacy@renderedapp.com.
12. How we protect data
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, scoped access controls, and authenticated access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.
13. International data transfers
We are based in the United States and process and store data there. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.
14. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the information we hold about you;
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate information;
- Deletion — ask us to delete your information;
- Portability — receive your information in a portable format (the app also supports exporting your recipes and cook data);
- Restriction & objection — ask us to limit or stop certain processing;
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@renderedapp.com. We’ll respond as required by applicable law, and we won’t discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If you’re in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
15. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to and deletion or correction of that information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. The categories of information we collect and our purposes are described above.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we don’t sell or share in this sense, there is no “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” action to take — but you’re welcome to confirm this with us at any time. To exercise your California rights, email privacy@renderedapp.com.
16. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@renderedapp.com and we will delete it.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
